Energy Town Hall Meeting

Pat Outman sponsored a Townhall meeting on March 28th @ the Sheridan VFW Hall to address the energy issues in Michigan. Representative Outman is a great supporter of revealing the truth about this issue. Many gathered to learn more about the facts that are not being told anywhere else.

He invited Jason Hayes, an energy expert to speak. Jason works at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy located in Midland, MI. The Mackinac Center was founded in 1987 and is a nonpartisan research and educational institute. They are dedicated to advancing liberty and opportunity for all people through research and education. He is the Director of Energy and Environmental Policy. Jason has spent almost three decades studying and working in environmental and energy policy. Jason holds a Master of Environmental Design (Environmental Science) degree from University of Calgary, a Bachelors of Science in Natural Resource Conservation from the University of British Columbia and a Technical Diploma in Renewable Resource Management from Selkirk College.

Jason broke down the bills that have been recently passed (SB 271, SB 273, SB 277, and HB 5120) in Lansing. With all of Jason’s expertise you would think he would be a welcome speaker in Lansing, but he has not been asked to share the truth.

The title of his talk is “Net Zero Bills Fail”. These bills fail in all seven areas of Sound Energy Policy.

The Seven Principles of Sound Energy Policy are…

• 1. Energy is an essential aspect of human flourishing. What they don’t tell us is there is a push to limit reliable, affordable sources of energy, which is driving the costs higher and harming reliable service.

• 2. All energy sources have an environmental impact. What they don’t tell you, is the negative impact that solar and wind energy have on plants/trees, animals especially birds of prey like eagles, humans (for example the Uyghurs in China who are placed into forced labor at “reeducation camps” making solar parts), or solar panels once broken in storms leaching toxic chemicals into the soil for many generations to come.

  Not to mention that wind turbines are “the pure embodiments of fossil fuels”

  Green Energy isn’t Green!

• 3. In energy production, scale is king.

  They don’t tell you that the Palisades nuclear energy plant produced more electricity in 2021 than all of Michigan’s wind and solar together.

• 4. Energy must be reliable to be truly effective.

  “Controllable, dispatchable resources are being retired and replaced primarily with weather-dependent, nondispatchable, and variable generation types to achieve carbon reduction goals. These weather dependent generators are increasing reliability risks.” Todd Ramey

  “Wind and Solar can’t keep up!”

• 5. Changing our energy systems takes time.

  Wind and solar have been pushed for decades and they still only provide 5.6% of primary energy consumption. “This disorderly retirement of the older generation's energy is happening too quickly.” Jim Robb

• 6. Energy must be affordable to be useful.

  They won’t tell you this… but due to the unreliable nature of solar and wind it will make electricity much more expensive.

• 7. Energy subsidies harm more than they help.

  Subsidizing these alternate forms of energy doesn’t paint the true picture of the effectiveness both in cost and in reliability.

  Net Zero Bills Completely Fail the Test!

  What are some of the things we can expect?

• Inefficient power supply+soaring costs.

• Incentives+Energy assistance

• Urgent calls for conservation or demand response (basically asking you to limit your electricity usage…like lowering your heat on the coldest day in Michigan)

• Rolling or Scheduled blackouts and load shedding.

The real kicker was when Jason shared the slide showing a thermometer comparing the temperature reading from today and the temperature reading in 2100. In 76 years with all of these supposed “green new energy changes” the reduction in the temperature will only be 0.0015 degrees Celsius.

“These efforts will have no measurable impact on future global temperatures.”

District Convention News

The District Convention held on March 2nd in Grand Rapids was a great success! Thanks to the hard work and planning of the D2 executive committee for conducting such a smooth convention.

There were 16 delegates, 2 alternates, and several statutory members from Montcalm County that attended the convention. They were there to vote on a presidential candidate, an RNC committeewoman, an RNC committeeman, and 3 delegates/3 alternates to attend the National convention in Milwaukee in July.

The overall winner in District 2 for the presidential candidate was Donald J. Trump with 99.46% of the votes. Trump was also the victor in all the other districts. Out of the 1,575 votes, he received 97.7% of the votes. Nikki Haley only received 2.23% of the votes.

The winning RNC committeeman was Dr. Rob Steele, and the RNC committeewoman selected with a plurality vote of 748 was Hima Kolanagireddy with 46.49%.

In District 2 Timothy Ross, Randy Guppy, and Renee Jeffords were chosen to be our RNC delegates. Tom Johnson, Kim Southwick, and Joel Johnson were chosen as alternates. Malinda Pego, who is also from D2 will be attending the convention as one of Trumps picks.
